So, it feels like I blinked and Ella turned three, time surely is a thief! For the last three years, every year Ella’s birthday (see first year celebrations, and second year celebrations) is something I dearly look forward to, not in a wishing time away kind of way but more to celebrate the kind and funny little girl Ella is. This year Ella knew she wanted a unicorn birthday party, which was very exciting for me because now I have her involved in the idea phase of her birthday party planning instead of it being just me!
A little bit about Ella, she is a cheeky and funny little girl who is not shy at all and will say hello to everyone she sees on the streets, she is confident and once wore her swimsuit to nursery just because she wanted to, she has amazing dance moves and is a very fast runner. She loves making a mess and pushing boundaries (uh hello toddler life!) and she loves cuddles. She loves all things girly, dressing up as a princess, twirling and using her magic wand, but is also so fascinated by Wonder Woman, spiders, insects and nature. This pandemic was in a way a gift to us because since march we got to spend more time with Ella than we normally would, we went for daily walks with her where she spent a lot of her energy trying to catch birds and squirrels (so cute and also hilarious to watch). And you know like any other mummy, I could go on talking about my little daughter, but this post is all about her unicorn birthday.
So back in July I came across this brand on Instagram called ‘Something Dreamy‘ and honestly they are what the name says, seeing their profile and the parties they’ve organised in the past I knew straightaway they’d be perfect in bringing my vision of a dreamy unicorn party to life and they did exactly that. Besides being exceptionally creative, they also have a keen eye for detail and are the most friendly team to work with. All the party decoration and ideas were well thought through and executed by them and you’ll see their hard work in the pictures. I couldn’t recommend them enough and will certainly be contacting them again for other events.
We had a little party with only a few close family members and we were fortunately lucky with the weather to be able to host everything in the garden. The day before the party I did a marathon baking run and made everything from cookies, cakesicles, the birthday cake, cupcakes to meringue kisses, with help from my sister who made the most delicious scones for the afternoon tea.
Here are some pictures from the day, I hope you find some inspiration for a party you may be planning.
