It’s funny how we women simply adore clothes, we drool over a pair of jeans in the shop window or a dress and when we own it we get bored so quickly that we start indulging in more shopping to look for new love! What does this say about us? Do we like to own a lot, a whole lot more than we do, or are we simply in love with the newness of the new? Being puzzled by my own thoughts I assertively decided to create a look from a pile of clothes I already own and you may have seen, I’ll tell you now, it isn’t easy but it’s got to be done! I can’t possibly remember how many times in life I’ve told myself that ‘it isn’t easy but it’s got to be done’! It’s one of my many consistent mantras. It’s helped me find my new beginnings and pursue them!
Towards the end of last year I set myself targets for 2017, like I always do. I cannot quite believe how quickly the months of this year are dissolving! Makes me think I don’t have enough time to do the things I’ve planned to but I suppose that’s a universal challenge. So here I am at my first milestone, a new chapter-a new job! To be honest, the idea and the reality of a new challenge are two different things, the former fills you with excitement, pumps adrenaline into your body and you feel ready to take on anything, the latter however, is a slightly different subject because new beginnings are not easy, be it a new job, moving to a new city, or just new experiences with people you already know. Newness can often be intimidating and fill you with insecurities, and may be that is why a lot of people choose not to venture out of their familiar territories but I believe, from the little experiences of my own life, that the sky is not all grey, it’s just a few temporary dark clouds that will drift away if you decide to hang in there and plough through the madness! Everyone gets insecure, everyone gets demoralised, hurt, sad, upset and dejected, but although it’s hard I keep telling myself that they are false challenges, the real one, we’ve already conquered, because the real challenge was leaving your comfort zone, aiming for a new challenge, working towards it despite knowing about its newness, despite people telling you that you cannot achieve it or you are travelling faster than you should. The real success is rising above those stupid people and thoughts and finding your goals and running towards them, I can promise that there is definite joy of accomplishment on the other side of these challenges!
And while I spend my first few days or even weeks struggling through the new opportunities I’ll keep you posted because if it can inspire you to take that leap of faith then the job is done! On another note, it’ll be summer soon and life is undeniably very different and positive when the sun is shining and most trees are in full bloom, Rosé or whatever you drink is flowing in plenty and barbecues are on in gardens! The season and Life is brimming with ‘what ifs’ and ‘may bes’, I urge you to choose one and go for it!
