When I was 17!

In my first year at university I put myself forward for the Miss Fresher contest, a fancy and popular event that the seniors arranged! It was all on a whim! I wasn’t fancy then ( not that I am now), I mean fancy enough for the competition, I think it’s fair to say I was far from chic! I didn’t have my fashion on point,do you expect that at 17? Probably you do!

But at 17, I had a couple of amazing friends who were my whole world, I had a modest dressing sense and an adventurous personality, also fierce confidence and an appetite for curiosity, to do more of the NEW things, but my friends, the two I told you about, they remained the same and forever will be, my old and cherished friendship.

Nevertheless I applied and did actually get selected, I have to admit as the competition unfolded I quite enjoyed the increasing drama. At my interview I was asked several questions that I batted quite comfortably and then came the question, how do you define God?

My immediate response was, God is faith and FAITH is everything!

11 years ago I said that without much thought or preparation but I’ve held that close to my heart ever since because there is undeniable truth in spontaneity!

I’ve always said, more than the people who appreciate you, you need people who have faith in you, around! Those people who tell you that you can do whatever you’ve imagined!Because that is rare, they are powerful people, because they have the power of giving you the biggest gift, FAITH, the power to change your life, they’re capable of giving you boundless confidence and limitless imagination, and that power is precious! I’ve been fortunate to meet some such people in my life and career and I aspire to be one!

But if you find yourself wedged around people, be it your boyfriend or your boss , that wrinkle your faith then it’s time to move on!

Life is a giant story and not everyone needs to be around at the end, make room for people who bring freshness, variety and colour, and maybe a little bit of sparkle!
